Better than Vicks - It's homemade and safe.

I first saw a part of the recipe on herbs and oil but it was incomplete and was vague so I started myself. I had planned to just make a vicks product only homemade. that was until I saw all the very bad things in it that can be fatal of used wrong. They were Levomenthol, turpentine, petrolium which is flamable, camphor you use over 11 percent can be fatal. I also read that no child under age two should use at all, nor should and pregnant or nursing women. that really scared me. Here is an alternative and it is safe. I also added Cedar essentail oil as it is in Vicks and a wonderful addition

Better than Vicks Defusing oil

2-3 drops Lavender essential oil
2-3 drops eucalyptus  essential oil
2-3 drops rosemary essential oil
1-2 drops cedar essential oil

put a few drops of each in a cool mist humidifier or in an oil defuser add to a teaspoon of olive oil or sweet almond oil

Better than Vicks  Salve

2 drops of each oil above
 2 teaspoon of sweet oil
 3 tablespoons cocoa butter

melt cocoa butter in a microwave in 30 second increments until melted add the oil and essential oils above and rub on your chest and feet (then cover with socks).

Note: I do not use vasaline because it is flamable. Not a good thing especially with your familys health as they are counting on you to know these things

Better than Vicks Vapo Action Spray

Use in a room or on a pillow to help relieve congestion
Mix 2 drops of each oil with  4 ozs  water in a spray bottle, shake and spritz on your pillow.

Better than Vicks shower disc

-2 cups Baking soda
-2/3 cup Water
-Essential oils: eucalyptus, rosemary, cedar and lavender.
-Muffin tin
-Muffin liners

1) Add baking soda to a mixing bowl.
2) Slowly add water until you've made a thick paste. A just a little water at a time. You'll want the mix to feel like putty.
3) Add 12 drops of each essential oil except cedar and add 6 drops of cedar now if air drying and after if baking of you are baking them.
4) Spoon in to a muffin tin about 3/4  full, and bake at 350 for  20 minutes the add the essential oils to the top of the hard puck after it cools. Or you can let sit out for 12-18 hours. They will crumble more if just left to air dry.
5) Pop these suckers out of the paper liner, plop it in your shower, and let the essential oils steam away your stuffy nose. Edited to add: put them anywhere on the floor of the shower; it doesn't matter where!
To use place on the floor of your shower for steam inhalation or in a tub while filling. To store place in a mason jar or other glass container with a tight fitting lid. Nice as gifts.
