tea's for what ails you

Skull Cap Tea

Makes a very tasty tea! But be warned the tea makes you sleepy and the more you drink the more you will want to take a nap!

1 Tablespoon Skullcap (herb)
2 Cups boiling hot water

put both in a teapot and steep 10 minutes. sweeten with honey if prefered 2 servings

Cranberry Mint Tea

A wonderful kidney cleanser bacteria, including E. coli, associated with urinary tract infections to the urinary tract wall, heart disease, cancer  and helps IBS, allergies and asthma, retards fungus and bacteria, aid digestion, nausia, vomiting, breaks down gall stones, mucus, colds, cough, immune system, infections, and stress . This is also very good served hot.

4 cups water
1 12-ounce package fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup fresh mint leaves (about 1/2 ounce)
1/2 cup sugar
Fresh mint sprigs

Combine 4 cups water and cranberries in heavy medium saucepan and bring to
boil. When cranberries begin to pop, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer
mixture until cranberries are very tender, about 10 minutes.
Place 1 cup mint leaves in heat-proof pitcher or coffeepot. Set fine
strainer atop pitcher. Pour cranberry mixture into strainer, pressing on
solids to extract as much juice as possible; discard solids. Add 1/2 cup
sugar to pitcher; stir until sugar has dissolved. Refrigerate mixture until
cold. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Keep chilled.) Garnish with mint sprigs
and serve.

Rose Hips Tea

By late winter, we all could use a boost. Comforting and stimulating, rose hip tea is not only a tangy, fruity beverage, but also is an excellent source of vitamin C—and might be as close as your garden or flower bed. rheumatoid arthritis, boosts the immune system, blood cholesterol, curbs appetite
This reddish seed pod forms after the rose’s bloom has withered, provided the rosebush has not been deadheaded. If you have rose hips to harvest, pick them after a light frost has converted some of their starches to sugar. (If the hips freeze solid and then thaw, the taste can be unpleasant.)

2 tbsp whole fresh rose hips
2 cups boiling water

To make 2 cups of tea, place 2 tablespoons whole, fresh rose hips in a warmed teapot, add 2 cups boiling water, cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and pour into cups. Sweeten with honey.

Ginger spice Tea
 
nausea, digestive problems, circulation, arthritis, Stomach cramps, circulation, anti-inflammatory, minimises colds and allergies

6 cups water
6 whole cardamom pods
4 fresh or crystallized ginger slices
2 1-1/2 x 3-inch orange peel strips (orange part only)
6 whole cloves
2 cups low-fat milk
6 teaspoons tea leaves (preferably Darjeeling or Assam)
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar


Combine first 5 ingredients in heavy large saucepan. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Add milk and tea, bring to boil and simmer 2 minutes. Turn off heat and steep 4 to 6 minutes, according to desired strength. Mix in sugar. Strain tea. (Can be prepared 6 hours ahead. Cover and chill. Rewarm before serving.)

Summer Solstice Tea
 

1/4 cup Red Clover Blossoms ( Protection and romance)
1/3 cup Peppermint (Protection and money)
1/3 cup Lavender Flowers (Offering to God and Goddess)
1/4Lemon Balm (Resolving bad moods and hot tempers)
1/4 cupChamomile (Sun Power)
1/3 cupSt. John's Wort (Balancing Fire and Water)

This blend tastes a little bitter from the lavender, but is quite pleasant. I find it very cooling even when it's not iced. To brew, put 1/4 cup into a quart jar and fill with boiling water. Strain it after 20-30 minutes, because the flowers are volatile enough that it doesn't take long to make a medicinal brew.

Peppermint  helps IBS, allergies and asthma, retards fungus and bacteria,  aid digestion, nausia, vomiting, breaks down gall stones, mucus, colds, cough, immune system, infections, and stress
 
Red Clover contains antioxidants, anti-tumor properties
antispasmodic, Diuretic, expectorant - used to treat asthma, bronchitis, and similar type conditions,  sedative, tonic, asthma, bronchitis, cholesterol levels, colds coughs, including whooping cough, digestion, fatulence, infections, infertility, sore throats
 
Lavender is antiseptic, calming and relaxing. antiseptic, nerve stimulating .digestive disorder, in cephalalgia as a flavouring and corrective agent, in hypertension, cardiac affections, headaches, insomnia, melancholia, dizziness or bronchial asthma, flu, fever, insomnia
Lemon Balm, herbes, cold sores, indigestion.Alzheimer's, decrease in anxiety, sores, tooth ache, pain relief, cramps and PMS, aides in concentartion making it wonderful taken before tests

FOR ASTHMA
Coughwort (3 parts)
Plantain (3 parts)
Sage (3 parts)
Silver Mullein (1 part)
Steep 2 to 4 heaping tsp. of the mixture in 1 cup of boiling water,
let it stand for 15 minutes, strain and add 2 tbsp. of honey. Take 1
to 2 tbsp. every hour.

CATARRAHAL ASTHMA, CHRONIC BRONCHITIS
Elecampane root
Steep 1 to 2 tbsp. of ground root in 1 cup boiling water. When cool,
drink 1 to 2 tbsp. every hour.


CYSTITIS & IRRITATION OF THE MUCUS LINING OF THE URINARY PASSAGES
Linden flower
Elder flowers
St. Johns Wort
German Chamomile flowers
Blackberry leaves
Mix in equal parts. Steep 2 to 4 heaping tsp. of mixture in 1 cup of
boiling water, allow to cool, strain and drink 1 cupful 3 times per
day, 30 minutes before meals.


BLOOD PURIFYING TEA
Dandelion root (4 parts)
Chicory root (4 parts)
Witch grass root (4 parts)
Fennel seed (1 part)
Steep 1 or 2 tbsp. mixture in 1 cup boiling water, boil for 1
minute, let cool, strain. Take 2 tbsp. 30 minutes after meals.


FOR NEURITIS, MIGRAINES, ETC.
St. Johns Wort (1 oz.)
Primrose flower (1 oz.)
Blessed thistle (1 oz.)
Lavender flowers (1 oz.)
Sweet balm leaves (1 oz.)
Peppermint leaves (2 oz.)
Fragran valerian root (2 oz.)
Steep 2 or 3 heaping tsp. of the mixture in 1 cup boiling water;
cover with saucer and when cool, strain and drink 3 cupfuls every
day. Either 1/2 hour before or after meals.

FOR GOUT, MUSCULAR RHEUMATISM
Birch leaves (3 oz.)
Horsetail grass (2 oz.)
Restharrow (1 oz.)
Garden rue (1 oz.)
Juniper berries (1 oz.)
Yarrow (1 oz.)
Steep 1 or 2 heaping tsp. in 1 cup boiling water for 10 minutes,
allow to cool a little, strain and drink while still warm, 1 cup 30
minutes before or after each meal.

This should have a diet with the treatment. Avoid meats, fish,
sweets, pastries and alcoholic beverages. Eat fresh green vegetables
and fruits, eat only sparingly of breads, eggs, cheese. Avoid as
much as possible any drinks containing sugar. (If sweets are
desired, eat honey.)

BLOOD BUILDER TONIC, MALARIA & ANEMIA
Harvest black walnut leaves before the nuts form, make a tea from
them. Drink 1 cupful 3 times a day.


ASTHMA
Wild plum bark tea.


TONE UP THE SYSTEM & CIRCULATION (good for anyone tired and run-down for loss of appetite.)
Gentian root (1 tsp.)
Rocky Mountain grape root (1 tsp.)
German chamomile (1 tsp.)
Goldenseal (1 tsp.)
Cascara bark (2 tbsp.)
Place in well covered fruit jar. Shake to mix thoroughly. Steep 1
heaping tbsp. in 1 pint of boiling water, let stand until cold,
strain and take 1/3 cupful 3 times per day.


TONIC FOR ARTERIOSCLEROSIS OR HARDENING OF THE ARTERIES & HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (deep breathing is necessary aid to treatment)
Choose one of the following:
Mistletoe
Yellow dock root
Life everlasting
Mormon valley herbs


HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
Make a tea of Black Haw, sip about a pint of the tea during the day.


HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
Mistletoe (2 tsp.)
Angelica root (2 tsp.)
Bring to the boiling point in 1 pint of water, allow to cool. Drink
2 or 3 cups per day.


TO IMPROVE APPETITE
Boil a handful of Dogwood root bark in a quart
of water. Boil to 1 pint, let stand for an hour, strain, and take 1
tbsp. 3 times a day.


LOSS OF APPETITE, POOR COMPLEXION, HEALTH BUILDER
Wahoo bark
White oak
Goldenseal
Sarsaparilla
Wild cherry bark
Boneset
Mix in equal parts. Boil 1/2 gallon of water and mixture, boil down
to 1 quart and take 1 tbsp. with each meal and at bedtime.


SPRING TONIC, IMPROVES APPETITE
Pour boiling water over Wild Cherry Bark, Shell Hickory Bark,
Prickly Ash Bark and Mullein. Let stand awhile and help yourself.


IMPROVE APPETITE
Wild cherry (1 part)
Red alder (1 part)
Cedar (1 part)
Pack it tightly in a pitcher and cover with hot water. Drink 4 to 5
cups during the day and 1 cupful at bedtime.


TONIC FOR APPETITE
Sassafras tea in the spring and Sulphur and Sorghum Molasses mixed
into a pill in the fall. Take a pill each night.


RELIEF OF BELCHING, INDIGESTION, RELIEF OF OLD AGE
Gentian root (1 oz.)
Colombo root (1 oz.)
Skullcap herb (1/2 oz.)
Pour 2 pints of cold water over the mixture and simmer gently for 20
minutes, let stand for a little while and strain. Drink a
wineglassful 1 hour before each meal and 2 hours after the meal.


SPRING TONIC
Senna (2 tbsp.)
Sarsaparilla bark (2 tbsp.)
Boil in 1 quart of water. Very good for the tired feeling in the
springtime.


TONIC REMEDY
Hickory bark (6 tsp.)
Poplar bark (3 tsp.)
Sweet gum bark (8 tsp.)
Wahoo (8 tsp.)
Sassafras (2 tsp.)
Fringe tree (2 tsp.)
Mix well, use 1 heaping tsp. in a cup of boiling water, take 3 times
a day, a large mouthful at a time.

TONIC
Gentian root (1 oz.)
Colombo (1 oz.)
This mixture was placed in 5 gills of boiling water, reduced by
boiling down to 4 gills, strained and given in doses of 1/2
wineglassful 3 times during the day.
