Essential Oils for Your Hair

Normal Hair

Normal hair can be cared for with Roman Chamomile, Lavender, Clary Sage, Thyme, Rosemary or Lemon. Roman Chamomile and Lemon can be used to color light hair, and Rosemary to color dark hair. Try an occasional hair treatment with one or more of these essential oils in a bas of almond oi or Jojoba oil.

Oily Hair

Use Clary Sage to care for oily hair. An occasional Jojoba treatment will be useful as well.

Dry Hair

Use Geranium or Lavender to care for dry hair, since these stimulate the sebaceous glands to restore the hair to its natural oiled condition. A periodic hair treatment with these oils is particularly beneficial for dry hair; you can also use the oils listed above under "Normal Hair" for treatment.

Dandruff

For dandruff, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Clary Sage, Patchouli, Peppermint, Rosemary or Tea Tree can be used in shampoos, rinses, and hair oils. Treat the hair with olive oil or Jojoba oil on a regular basis. Rinses, hair lotions, and scalp massages with apple cider vinegar and peppermint or one of the other oils listed above can be very helpful.

Hair Loss

For hair loss, the hair should be washed and cared for with products containing Clary Sage, Peppermint, Rosemary or Thyme. After rinsing, a hair lotion containing the same oil should be massaged well into the scalp. Avocado oil and Aloe Vera will stimulate hair growth and should be used as a treatment on a regular basis.

Split, Brittle Hair

Damaged hair and split ends should be given regular treatments. Use oil treatments with warm Jojoba oil.
