Medicine chest building ~ Colds and flu ~

Sage and cayenne throat gargle

1 handful of Sage
1/4 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper
1/2 cup of boiling water
Infuse for ten minutes.
Then add........
a pinch of salt
2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
2 to 3 tablespoons of Local Honey.

Can be used up to 10 times per day.

Certainly works well as a mouthwash and antiseptic / bacterial role.
The cayenne hits the roof of the mouth and enters the head giving a lively buzz to the brain.
It is used to treat throat infections.

Just gargle as you would with a normal gargle

Spray for sinus infections

7 drops eucalyptus tincture
7 drops sage tincture
7drops usnea tincture
7 drops Echinacea tincture
7 drops juniper tincture
4 drops grapefruit tincture

Place tincture drops in a one ounce nasal spray bottle, add distilled water to fill bottle the rest of the way to the top. Replace cap and shake thoroughly.
Use as needed.

Cold and flu fighter

4 drops Sweet Eucalyptus unrectified is best
4 drops Scotch Pine 3 drops Lemon
Add to a large bowl of steaming water.


Covering your head lean over the bowl and inhale deeply for 2-5 minutes. May also be added to a diffuser or vaporizer.

Virus spray

Use Eucalyptus for children and the elderly.

1 drop Tea Tree essential oil
6 drops Bergamot
8 drops Lemon
1 oz. of water

Mix together and mist the room, helps kill germs in the air.

Another Virus spray

These three essential oils are said to kill hundreds of airborne viruses
and bacteria. Just spritz your home, office, hospital room, classroom,
etc., and feel the difference.

1/2 tsp. Bergamot Essential Oil
1/2 tsp. Eucalyptus Essential Oil
1/2 tsp. Lavender Essential Oil
Vodka


Put essential oils in a 4 oz spritzer bottle and fill with 1 oz. vodka
and 3 oz. distilled water. Shake and use. You can vary the oil amounts to
get just the right scent for you! Enjoy!

Decongestant inhaler

1/4 t. coarse salt
5 drops eucalyptus oil

Place the salt in a glass vial with a lid. Add the eucalyptus oil. The salt will absorb the essential oil. Use whenever needed to help you breathe better.

Cold and Flu spray

Eucalyptus - 10 drops
Frankincense- 8 drops
Tea Tree - 8 drops
Ravensara - 6 drops
Rosemary - 4 drops
Emulsifier - 30 drops
distilled water- 8 ounces


Blend the essential oils together then add the emulsifier. Stir well then add to the Linen/room spray. Shake well. Spray around the room as needed. If you want to spray a little on the pillow, only spray on one side. Let it dry then place the sprayed side down, away from the side the face will touch. This allows the essential oils to not touch the skin which could cause irritation but lets them surround you while you sleep.

Echinacea;

You may of possibly had Echinacea or Cone Flowers growing in your garden.
Echinacea was used by Native Americans for centuries before the pilgrims ever came into the picture. It was used to heal and treat snakebite, fevers and slow healing wounds. Echinacea
is a strong healing herb, which is again becoming well known in the medical community for its healing abilities and the fact that it builds the bodies on resistances and immune system.

Folk Names; Cone Flower and Purple Cone Flower.

Magickal Powers;

Healing and Strengthening Magick.

Echinacea was used by Native Americans within their healing magick and to call the spirits of the ancestors to help and protect them in hunting and battle.

Echinacea is also used in magick for strengthen the powers with the magick being worked.

Medical Uses;

Aids, Lupus, Diseases of the Immune Systems, Speed Recovery, Infections, Colds and Flu.

Echinacea is now under investigation by AIDS research because of its natural ability to fight disease and stimulate the bodies on immune systems.

This is a good blend of healing herbs that will help build your immune systems.

Immune Building Blend;

1/3 cup Echinacea
1/4 cup Elecampane
1/4 cup Comfrey
1/4 cup Mint, (for flavor)

Mix all the ingredients together and store in and airtight jar.

Take one teaspoon herb mix and pour 1 cup boiling water over the herbs and steep for 3 minutes. Add honey to taste.

Drink one cup of tea daily.

You could use the same blend in a tincture if you prefer smaller daily doses.

Echinacea made into teas will ease fevers and speeds the recovery from colds, chills and flu.

Made into a tincture it will fight infections of the urinaniry track and kidneys.

Echinacea made into a wash will clean and help heal wounds and infections because of its natural antibiotics.

Taken in pills for acute infections and at the onset of colds and flu to lesson or stop their affects.

Cold and flu Bath

This can be used in in bath, diffusor or humidifier and is safe for kids.

5 drops eucalyptus
5 drops peppermint
4 drops lavender
*If chest is congested add 7 drops thyme

Use in bath, diffusor or humidifier.
