Medicine chest building ~ Blessed sleep aides~

Sleepy time skullcap tea

Makes a very tasty tea! But be warned the tea makes you sleepy and the more you drink the more you will want to take a nap!

1 Tablespoon Skullcap (herb)
2 Cups boiling hot water

Combine is a teapot and steep 10 minutes

Sweet dreams pillow spray

Lavender - 8 drops
Roman Chamomile - 4 drops
Orange - 4 drops
Ylang-Ylang 4 drops
Linen spray base – 2 oz

Shake well and spritz on pillow cases. Ideally best if sprayed 5-10 minutes prior to going to bed.
Let dry. Great for your guests. Great for kids too.

Relaxing Herbal Tea Bags -

A relaxing herbal bath can be as simple as adding a few commercial tea Bags to the water. Some people like to steep the bags in boiling water First, then add them to the bath. Others use very hot tap water, add the Tea bags and get in when the water has cooled to a comfortable Temperature.

You can buy premade empty bath tea bags through healthfood stores and the internet

1/2 cup grated fresh gingerroot
2 tablespoons of one or more of the following dried (unless otherwise
Indicated) herbs:
Lemon verbena
Rosemary sprigs (fresh or dried)
Any of the mints (fresh or dried)
Chamomile
Lavender
Lemon balm
Sweet marjoram
Grated goldenseal root
Plaintain leaves

Combine the gingerroot and the herbs. Insert the ingredients in the bag And add it to your bath. Bath bags should only be used once.

If you make them to give as gifts, be sure to include a label Identifying the herbs you have used so that the recipient can beware of Any skin sensitivities or allergies.

Elder flowers steeped in hot water make a gently cleansing bath with
Only a light floral scent. They also are considered sleep inducing and
To unfrey the nerves.

Pillows for Peaceful Nights -

To make a sleep or dream pillow, make an inner cloth 'envelope' of
Cheesecloth or tulefor the herbs (that darn cheesecloth again!).

Sleep Pillow

1/2 cup chamomile flowers
1/2 cup rosemary leaves
1/2 cup pine needles
1 cup lavender flowers
2 tablespoons lemon verbena leaves
1 tablespoon pinhead orris root (a stabilizer)
1/2 teaspoon oil of lavender

Dream Pillow -

1/2 cup mugwort leaves
1/2 cup lavender flowers
1/2 cup spearmint or peppermint leaves
2 tablespoons thyme leaves
2 tablespoons rosemary leaves
1 tablespoon pinhead orris root (a stabilizer)

Combine ingredients and fill cloth envelope. Slip it inside any washable
Pillowcase.

Other Ideas

Strew lavender in the linen closet to scent your bedsheets with this
Mildly narcotic herb.

Dill will lure cranky babies to sleep. Add a dill infusion to the bath,
Sprinkle the infusion on baby's blanket, or use it as a hair rinse. "To
Procure sleep, wash the head in a decoction of dill seed and smell it
Frequently."
Sprinkle infusions of dill on your pillowcases and sheets then quickly
Iron dry or fluff in dryer.

Sage is considered a "ghost medicine" used to prevent nightmares. Burn
As an incense in the bedroom or strew it on the floor or in the bed.

Catnip tea and chamomile tea are used for both nervous conditions and
Insomnia in infants and adults.
